- How do you drive in winter using paddle shifters. Do you use the braking regenerative system at all in winter ?
- Response.
You should continue using the braking regenerative system even in winter. But you should adjust the driving mode depending on the weahter conditions.
KONS Electric and IONIQ Electric have 4 driving modes:
- Sport
- Normal
- Eco
- Eco +
+ 0 °C
Above 0°C
You can continue using ECO/ECO + mode for the distance to empty increase.
- 0 °C
Below 0°C
You should set your driving mode to NORMAL. You also need to adjust your driving and the regenerative braking rate. For example, below 0°C on an icy surface if you continue to brake at the 4th regenerative braking rate, the wheels of your vehicle may lock up and skidding may occur. With such weather conditions avoid using the 4th regenerative braking rate. Instead, set the regenerative braking rate to 0-2.

- What is the regenerative braking system is used for ?
- Response
The regenerative braking system allows us to activate or deactivate smart energy recuperation. When you release the accelerator, the regenerative braking gets activated and recharges the battery during deceleration (it converts part of kinetic energy into electrical energy). This increases the distance to empty and minimizes brake wear of your vehicle.
- Is it recommended not to use the regenerative braking on the highway ?
- Reponse
Indeed, on the highway we don’t slow down very often. Thus, there is no need for regenerative braking.
